Automotive Case Studies Volkswagen of America Jetta A5
Training Need
What We Did

Volkswagen of America trains dealership staff in the United States and Canada on the features and benefits of its vehicles. To support the launch of the fifth generation of the Jetta, Volkswagen wanted to train dealership staff on the benefits of the vehicle, the technical features, and sales strategies.

Volkswagen needed to introduce all dealership personnel to the new features and systems of the fifth generation Jetta before they attended instructor-led training. Adding web-based training would allow VW to reach a wider range of personnel, from the receptionist to corporate management.

Volkswagen turned to a trusted e-Learning development partner who was already familiar with VW products, staff, and dealership needs-Learning & Performance Solutions Group (LPS). LPS has worked with VW for years, producing award-winning product sourcebooks, and developing and maintaining vwwebsource.com, an appealing, easy-to-use product information site for dealership personnel.

LPS was hired to provide a robust training program before the launch of the new Jetta.

LPS created web-based training, an integration of video, animations, simulations, and images which were categorized according to the different roles within a dealership. We used a Flash Communication Server (which optimized flash technologies) to deliver streaming video. The videos are stored as media objects on a remote server, capitalizing on leading edge functionality.

The courseware is SCORM-compliant and was integrated into Volkswagen’s Learning Management System (LMS). We developed a posttest for each module and the LMS tracks completion.
